Spend a weekend camping in a tent, bring your camper or stay in a lovely cabin at Historic Tannehill Ironworks State Park and pedal one of RUSA's routes (100K, 200K, 300K, 400K or 600K) that explores the largely quiet and country roads of central Alabama. The 600K is a 400K loop to the south followed by a 200K loop to the north.
At 444 miles long, the Natchez Trace Parkway is a designated "bike route" by the National Park Service. The Trace leads travelers through three states and 10,000 years of history. The Parkway commemorates the history and preserves the natural beauty of the most significant travel route of the Old Southwest - the Natchez Trace.
This 200K route travels south on the Trace from Kosciusko to near Ridgeland. Travel south from the Kosciusko Information Center for 57 miles before exiting the Natchez Trace near Ridgeland, MS. Once you exit the trace, ride about eleven miles of local roads and bike paths to the control near Ross Barnett Reservoir. For a great meal, be sure to visit one of the great local restaurants near the control. Leaving the control, retrace your route back to the start.
All-in-all riders experience nearly 115 miles of commercial-free, stop-sign/stop-light free riding on the Trace & Paths in both directions.

This 400K is the same as Day 1 of the Kosciuko Natchez Trace 600K that takes riders 125 miles north of Kosciusko, past Tupelo, Mississippi which is the birthplace of Elvis Presley. If offered simultaneously, 400K and 600K riders can swap stories and encourage one another throughout all 254 miles. All-in-all riders experience nearly 254 miles of commercial-free, stop-sign/stop-light free riding on the Trace in both directions.

Rolling roads between Tuscaloosa and Citronelle. The stretch on US 43 is more heavily trafficked but is not problematic. Other roads are more rural. Planned Overnight after 400K (250 miles) in Jackson.
